Finca El Manzano, founded in 1872, had belonged to Emilio Lopez Diaz’s family for generations. In 2005, he expanded the operation by replanting new varieties to the farm and by building Beneficio El Manzano .The new cultivars and production facility gave Emilio the opportunity to experiment with different processes as well as the ability explore the different characteristics that the other cultivars have to offer. This degree of cultivation and control of the process has been at the forefront of what makes Finca El Manzano so special. Coffee from El Manzano has contributed to three national barista championships and first and second place finishes in the 2018 El Salvador CoE.
The Gesha (or Geisha) variety gained widespread prominence and recognition in 2004 when Hacienda laEsmeralda in Boquete, Panama discovered its unique flavor-profile and featured it during the 2004 Panama Coffee Competition and subsequent auction. The intensely floral and juicy flavor profile quickly brought this variety to the forefront, and it is most likely one of the most recognized varieties today. Originally having its origins in Ethiopia, the Gesha variety was translated to Costa Rica because of it’s rust resistant properties and from there spread to Panama and its eventual fame. The thing about Gesha’s is that they are floral, berry-like and tropical with good intensity and sweetness that is unlike any other variety.
Another stellar one here. Really juicy vibes with a nice tart/sour dimension. You can def sense that cola if you open up the beans well. Highly recommend. If you’re into your freaky fruity beans, this is fantastic.
